We are an outstanding school. At the very least we aim to continue to be outstanding every year forward. When we became outstanding, we were six months into implementing our ‘discovery’ curriculum of foundation subjects. This skills based curriculum is built on the principles of the teaching the skills and knowledge that the national curriculum requires, but giving the children the confidence and ability to choose the learning path on which to use the skills and knowledge they learn.
As embedded language within the school, ‘challenge’ is known and understood by the children to varying degrees according to their age and cognitive ability. The children know the ‘Champion Challenge’ as a celebration of their learning in the foundation subjects in particular but may not realise that a lot of maths and English is also a part of it even though it is taught discreetly.
In choosing to inspire the children, challenge them to learn in more and in depth, and to discover new knowledge and skills, we are developing a love of learning and resilience that will serve them well through the rest of their lives.
At Warlingham Village Primary School we aim to:
Create a safe environment that is motivating, happy and stimulating. An environment in which children acquire the skills, knowledge and concepts relevant to their future.
GLF Schools promotes a cross-cluster collaborative approach, allowing colleagues to share expertise and experience, ensuring all children in our schools receive an excellent education and reach their potential. Through this cluster model, GLF Schools is committed to providing opportunities for professional development and career progression.
Our School sits within an established cluster of Primary schools, overseen by a Regional Director. Along with Warlingham Village, our cluster includes the following other schools; Chestnut Park Primary School, Whyteleafe Primary School, Hillcroft Primary School, and Marden Lodge Primary School.
GLF Schools is a Multi-Academy Trust established in 2012. We believe that every child in our schools can achieve the highest academic standards whilst enjoying a vibrant, challenging and rich curriculum. What we say in our motto is true: "Where Children Grow, Learn and Flourish." Whilst operating as a part of a family, each of our schools has its own distinct character and culture which is respectful of its community and context but their utmost common ground is that it is our staff that make each school. Our collective GLF culture is built upon caring for our children and students by enabling our staff to provide the best possible education with the resources at our disposal.
We have a simple mission. "To be a supportive family of schools where together we grow, learn and flourish”
